Trailer Parts Manufacturer — Axles, Hubs, Brakes & Suspension

Trans Power (TP) supplies the complete trailer running gear: full and half axles, trailer hub units, brake systems, and suspension systems with accessories. Rated 0.75 t to 6 t per axle, covering everything from a light utility trailer to a triple-axle plant trailer.

Fitted to camping and travel trailers, boat and yacht trailers, RVs, agricultural trailers and utility trailers. Our trailer parts are in service across North America, Europe and Australia — three markets with very different regulations and very different corrosion environments.

Because trailer builders specify rather than order from a catalogue, we customise: material, machining process, rust-prevention treatment and heat treatment can all be set to your requirement. That last one matters more than anything else if your trailers go in salt water.

0.75 t to 6 t Per Axle

The full light-to-medium range from one supplier — you can source a 750 kg box trailer axle and a 6 t plant trailer axle on the same order.

Complete Running Gear

Axle, hub unit, brake system and suspension from one place. Fewer suppliers to chase when a build is waiting on parts.

Rust Prevention Is Specifiable

Boat and yacht trailers get dunked in salt water. We set the rust-prevention process to the application rather than applying one finish to everything.

Built to Your Drawing

Material, machining process, heat treatment and finish are all customisable. Trailer builders specify — we are set up for that, not just for catalogue picking.

NA, Europe & Australia

In service in all three. Regulations and hitch/brake conventions differ; tell us the destination market and we will flag what changes.

China + Thailand Plants

Zhejiang base plus our Thailand factory (2023). Choose the origin that suits your tariff position.

Trailer Product Range

Four systems plus wheel-end components. Most customers start with the axle and build outward — tell us the rated load, the trailer type and the destination market and we will put a specification together.

Choosing a Trailer Axle by Load Rating

Trailer running gear is specified by rated load per axle, not by part number. Our range runs from 0.75 t to 6 t. Find your rating, then tell us the trailer type and destination market — brake requirements above a given weight differ by country.

Rated Load Typical Trailer Braking Axle Type
0.75 t Light box, luggage and small utility trailers Usually unbraked Stub / half axle common
1.0 – 1.4 t Small camping trailers, single-axle boat trailers Braked or unbraked depending on market rules Full or half axle
1.6 – 2.0 t Caravans, mid-size boat trailers, car-transporter singles Braked Full axle, often with override brakes
2.5 – 3.5 t Twin-axle caravans, plant and machinery trailers Braked Full axle, tandem sets
4.0 – 6.0 t Heavy plant trailers, agricultural trailers, tandem and tri-axle Braked Full axle, heavy-duty hub and drum

Braking thresholds and hitch types are set by national regulation and differ between North America, the EU and Australia. Tell us where the trailers will be registered and we will confirm what the axle needs to comply with.

Trailer Hub Types — What to Confirm Before Ordering

Trailer hubs are not classified by generation the way car hub bearings are. They are defined by bolt pattern, whether the drum is integral, and the bearing pair inside. Six things to pin down — get these right and the rest is straightforward.

Bolt pattern (PCD)The number of studs and the circle they sit on. 4-, 5-, 6- and 8-stud patterns are all common and none are interchangeable. This is the first thing to confirm.
Hub only vs hub-and-drumOn a braked axle the drum is often integral with the hub. Ordering a bare hub for a braked axle is one of the commonest mistakes.
Bearing arrangementTapered roller pairs in most sizes. The inner and outer bearing are different — a kit gives you both plus the seal.
SealingTrailer hubs sit still for months then work hard. Seal quality decides whether water gets in while parked, which is the usual cause of a seized trailer bearing.
Stud thread & lengthMetric or imperial, and the length has to suit your wheel. Easy to get wrong when sourcing across markets.
Cap and grease provisionGrease cap, or a bearing protector for immersion use. Specify which when you order boat trailer hubs.

Not sure of your bolt pattern? Measure across the studs — on an even-stud hub, centre to centre of two opposite studs; on a 5-stud hub, from the centre of one stud to the far edge of the hole two along. Or send a photo with a ruler in it and we will identify it.

Trailer Types We Supply

Camping & Travel Trailers Weight matters as much as strength — every kilo of running gear is a kilo the tow vehicle carries. Braked axles from 1.0 t upward.
Boat & Yacht Trailers The one application where the running gear is deliberately submerged, often in salt water. Rust-prevention specification is not optional here.
RV & Caravan Long parked periods followed by long runs. Seal quality and grease that does not separate while standing are what decide bearing life.
Agricultural Trailers Mud, field surfaces and shock loads rather than motorway miles. Heavier ratings, simpler brakes.
Utility & Box Trailers High volume, cost-sensitive, usually 0.75–1.4 t and often unbraked. Consistency across a production run matters more than peak spec.
Plant & Machinery Trailers 4 t to 6 t, tandem or tri-axle, heavy-duty hub and drum. Ramps and loading shock are the design case.

Corrosion Protection for Immersion Duty

A boat trailer is the only trailer designed to be driven into water. Hot wheel bearings meet cold — often salt — water, the hub cools, pressure drops and water is pulled past the seal. Then the trailer sits on a driveway for three weeks with that water inside. That is the failure mechanism, and no amount of bearing quality fixes it if the corrosion protection and sealing are wrong.

We treat rust prevention as a specification, not a standard finish. Tell us whether the trailers go in fresh or salt water, how often, and whether the customer will fit bearing protectors — and we will set the treatment and the seal arrangement to match.

The same applies to agricultural trailers standing in a yard through winter, and to coastal markets generally. Australia and the US Gulf and Atlantic coasts are the obvious cases.

Customisation & Quality

Trailer Builders Specify — So We Build to Spec

Four things are customisable on our trailer running gear, and trailer manufacturers routinely change all four: material, machining process, rust-prevention treatment and heat treatment. Send a drawing or a sample and we will confirm what we can hold.

Trans Power was founded in 1999, with a production base in Zhejiang, a 2,500 m² logistics centre in Shanghai and, since 2023, our own factory in Thailand. For a trailer builder running a production line, the two-site setup means supply does not hinge on one location.

Cross-reference numbers from SKF, NSK, FAG, TIMKEN and other brands are listed across our bearing catalogue for identification purposes, so wheel-end components can be matched to what you stock.

Trailer Parts FAQ

What load ratings do your trailer axles cover?
From 0.75 t to 6 t per axle — light box and luggage trailers at the bottom of the range, heavy plant and agricultural trailers at the top, with caravans, boat trailers and car transporters in between. Tandem and tri-axle sets are built from the same axles. See the load table above.
Do you supply the complete running gear or just parts?
Complete. Axle, hub unit, brake system and suspension with accessories, all from one supplier. Most trailer builders start by specifying the axle and load rating, then we build the rest of the package around it.
What is the difference between a full axle and a half axle?
A full axle is a single beam spanning the trailer with a stub at each end. Half or stub axles mount independently to each side of the chassis. Which you use depends on your chassis design and whether you want a through-beam or independent suspension. We make both.
Can you supply trailer parts for boat trailers used in salt water?
Yes, and this is worth discussing rather than just ordering. Immersion duty is a different specification: rust-prevention treatment, seal arrangement and grease all change. Tell us fresh or salt water, how often the trailer is launched, and whether bearing protectors will be fitted.
How do I identify my trailer hub bolt pattern?
Count the studs and measure the circle they sit on. On an even number of studs, measure centre to centre of two opposite studs. On a 5-stud hub, measure from the centre of one stud to the far edge of the hole two positions round. If in doubt, photograph the hub face with a ruler across it and send it to us.
Do your trailer parts meet regulations in my market?
Braking thresholds, hitch types and lighting rules differ between North America, the EU and Australia — the three regions where our trailer products are in service. Tell us where the trailers will be registered and we will confirm what the specification needs to include.
Can you build to our drawing?
Yes. Material, machining process, rust-prevention treatment and heat treatment are all specifiable. Trailer manufacturers routinely change all four, so we are set up for drawing-based production rather than catalogue picking.
What is your MOQ for trailer parts?
It varies with the product and whether it is a catalogue item or built to your drawing. Send your specification and annual volume and we will quote MOQ and pricing per line.
